The Kitchen:is open from 08.00hrs to 20.00hrs every day. Irene, Moses and the kitchen staff are proud to prepare excellent meals for you. In addition to the Regular Menu with the Old Time Favourites we also have a Specials Menu with exciting dishes! All our Meals are freshly cooked and they take time to prepare.
The Swimming poolis open daily from 09.00 to 18.00hrs. Use is free for clients having meals & staying overnight. The charges are 300/- per person. We do have costumes and towels for hire if you forgot to bring them: 100/- each.
Horse riding: (for experienced riders only! 1200/- per hour) You are being accompanied by Tanui the Syce: you have a good chance to see zebras, gazelles and perhaps giraffes. We can do Pony Rides for youngsters on request at 200/- per ride.
Walks: you can go for walks on your own in the surrounding area – this is open savannah grassland and you can’t get lost. Apart from seeing gazelles & zebras you will certainly see the Masai and their cattle. The people here are very welcoming, please respect the local community.
If you would like to have a guide, Emmanuel a local Masai can accompany you on your walk. He charges 500/- and will show you round informing you of the people, and environment you are walking though. Your walk will be 2 to 3 hrs (or longer if your want.
Bird Watching: the immediate grounds of Whistling Thorns host a large variety of birds which can easily be spotted.
Pampering for Total Relaxation: On request Cecelia can do a full body massage (1800/- per hour), or manicure 500/-, Pedicure 700/- or facial 1000/-.
Golf Driving Range (when the grass is not too long!): to Practice your Swing, or Vent your Frustration – 100/- for 20 balls, and bring your club. (Or you can hire clubs here at 200/-: breakages have to be paid for!).
Playground: there is a Playground with a Tree House and Swings for Children, and of course there is ample of open space to run around, kick a ball and play netball. (Do bring your balls!)
There is a bouncing Castle (50/- per child) and Pony rides (200/-)
Internetis available to our customers: minimum 50/- (and 5/- per minute). Ask the Bar staff.
Camping Site:If you bring your own equipment the charges are 500 p.p. per night. We can also put a tent up for you and provide a mattress (you bring your bedding) and the charge is 650 p.p. per night. Camping charges include use of the swimmingpool.
Masai Manyatta: With a minimum of 2 people we can take you to a Masai Boma (20 minutes away from WT) where you can visit the Masai, find out about their traditional lifestyle, and go for a nature walk, Cost 3000/- for half a day with 2 people and 1000 each after that.
Gift Vouchers: Whistling Thorns offers Gift Vouchers for 5900/- B&B for 2 people, for that special surprise!

Our new executive Board room is suitable for conferences of 15/20 people.

PARTIES 2011 @ Whistling Thorns
We can offer the following group rates for organizers of Parties:
1) Nyama Choma
Full Goat 6500/-
Full Chicken 1195/-Portions of Ugali, Chapati (2), Basmati
Rice,Chips or Roast Potatoes 150/- p.p.
Bowl of Kachumbari Salad (or vegetables) 500/-
2) Set Meal: Kuku Choma or Nyama Choma
Plate of Nyama Choma, or Kuku Choma with Ugali or Chips, and Kachumbari Salad 495/- p.p.
If you want both Nyama Choma and Kuku the cost is 650/- p.p.
3) Set Meal for Groups staying at Whistling Thorns 1050 p.p.
We make a menu to suit your group,
Choice of starter, main meal & salad and desert, coffee/tea
4) Buffet Meal at 1450/-
Starter: i.e. Chicken Wings, or a Soup
Main Course: Beef Stew & Basmati Rice, Chicken Masala and Chapati
Nyama Choma and Iriyo, Kachumbari and Greens,
Desert: Fruit Salad and Icecream
(we can substitute dishes to cater for Vegetarians)
5) Activities – Swimming pool, netball net (bring your own ball), playground with tree house and swings for children are free to customers who are having lunch here.
Bouncing Castle is put up on busy days for children under the age of 9. There is a Bar with Pool table, and darts – strictly for adults over 18 years of age.
6) We can accommodate 24 people in 12 ensuite units. Groups of 12 people or more at 2500/- B&B sharing twins (800/- for single supplement). FB 4350/- p.p.p.day sharing twin.Conference room (max 16 people) is 5000/- per day, and free of charge to groups over 12 on FB Basis at Whistling Thorns.
